NTC is the abbreviation of Negative Temperature Coefficient, meaning negative temperature coefficient, generally refers to semiconductor materials or components with a large negative temperature coefficient, the so-called NTC thermistor is a negative temperature coefficient thermistor. Working principle of folded NTC negative temperature coefficient thermistor:
When the temperature of NTC thermistors is low, the number of carriers (electrons and holes) of these oxide materials is small, so their resistance value is high; As the temperature increases, the number of carriers increases, so the resistance value decreases. NTC thermistor changes in the range of 10O~1000000 ohms at room temperature, and the temperature coefficient is -2%~-6.5%. NTC thermistor can be widely used in temperature measurement, temperature control, temperature compensation and other aspects of NTC thermistor.
Why do electrical appliances use NTC thermistors?
Thermistors are temperature-sensitive electronic components that exhibit different resistance values at different temperatures. Thermistors are composed of semiconductor materials and belong to semiconductor components.
Thermistors are divided into two categories according to the temperature coefficient: positive temperature coefficient thermistors, referred to as PTC thermistors, within a certain temperature range, the resistance value increases with the rise of temperature; Negative temperature coefficient thermistors, referred to as NTC thermistors, within a certain temperature range, the resistance decreases with the rise of temperature.
NTC thermistor can play the role of temperature monitoring and temperature control to ensure that the electrical appliance will not be short-circuited and burst due to excessive temperature when working, and can ensure that the battery cell works within the temperature range of the electrical appliance and actively stops working at abnormal temperature.
